A Peshtemal (pesh-te-mahl) is the authentic Turkish bath towel. It is a flat-woven towel made of high-quality cotton. More recently Peshtemal is also produced from natural fibers such as Linen, Bamboo and Silk. Today, they are used at the beaches, swimming pools / spas, gyms and camping/picnic trips as well as at home.

Unlike a thick terrycloth towel, Peshtemal is lightweight and compact by nature, these super absorbent towels quick-drying and become more absorbent after each wash.
Turkish cotton is absorbent to the point of sucking excess water of a body, but not so absorbent that it takes forever to dry. Instead it pushes water away from skin, instead of just soaking it in. Also because the towels are made of thin cotton material and because they wick moisture away from the body, they don't get that mildew smell traditional bath towels are suspect to if not dried properly.

  • High water absorption (absorbs as fast as traditional terry towel)

It stays light when wet and dry so quickly. At the beach, they pick up less sand than standard towels and look beautifully simple and fashionable.

No. The best Peshtemal is made of high quality Cotton. Imitation peshtemal made by bad quality cotton just feels different and won’t feel as satiny or get softer with each wash. When you’ve seen, and felt the real thing, you just know.
No. Please do not use bleach, harsh detergents or high heat on any towels (including the traditional towels you’ve been using). Bleach weakens fibers. It makes them less absorbent and more fragile. If your towels need whitening, we recommend adding some baking soda and white vinegar to a wash.
65” x 38”. Most of the Peshtemals are hand-loomed so no 2 items are identical
As all our towels are woven, a pulled loop will not unravel the towel. If that happens, just pull it straight and pull a loop, cut off the pulled loop with a pair of scissors.

For best results, before initial use, we recommend washing your Peshtemal in cold water and hang to dry. This allows the cotton fibers to open-up and begin to reach its maximum absorbency. Each machine wash will make the towel softer and more absorbent.
After the initial use, we recommend machine wash gentle cycle in cold and hang drying or tumble drying on low heat. The heat from the dryer can damage the cells of the cotton fibbers. We recommend using a lower heat setting occasionally or alternate between air and heat drying.

Let’s be honest….no one enjoys ironing but quick press on low heat can do wonders for your linens.

Machine Wash gentle or hand wash cycle in cold water and hang to dry. Never use harsh chemicals on your wool blankets, even if you have a stubborn stain. Never scrub the wool. Take your wool bedding to a dry cleaner if there's a stain that you can't handle with gentle treatment.
